What is SAM?

Youth are open to influence from a wide variety of spheres - their family, friends, school, the Internet, media, and the community. Being pulled in so many directions by such a diverse range of interests can be hard on a child. And between the hours of 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., they must often face choices - alone.

SAM is here to help. We recognize personal success begins with respect for one's self, others and education. And it must be fostered at home, in the community and at school.

SAM is a unique after-school community program that

• helps 8 to 14-year old at-risk and latchkey children in their scholastic and personal lives
• mentors, monitors and morally guides youth
• instills respect for family values and lifelong education
• integrates school, community and family
• provides a safe comfortable place conducive to learning
• teaches youth how to better handle conflict

SAM helps the community create the necessary links between families, schools, and citizens that sustain healthy, safe and desirable neighborhoods - and successful, confident, driven youth.
